Whether you’re a longtime funeral professional or simply want to know more about the field, “Top Stories in Funeral Service: FuneralVision.com Looks Back at 2024” provides an inside look at the business of death care.

Thomas A. Parmalee shares insights from some of the profession’s top movers and shakers as well as business solutions to honor the dead and comfort the living.
Find out how:

• Jon Lefrandt, the founder of multiple companies committed to serving death-care professionals, transformed his grief into an abiding commitment to help others.
• Effie Anolik, the co-founder and CEO of Afterword, leveraged her creativity and experiences as an alumna of Shopify to create a business laser-focused on helping funeral homes build an online presence.
• Rehan Choudhry, the founder and CEO of Chptr, created what some have called “the YouTube of memorialization” after being inspired by what he saw during the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Kevin Young, the man with the most iconic beard in funeral service, overcame a childhood tragedy to find a home in the profession.
• And much, much more.

While all the articles featured in the book are available on FuneralVision.com for free, Parmalee said he knows that many fans like having material in a book format — and he also knows that others who don’t know about the site may be looking for information on funeral service. “Putting a book together highlighting some of the site’s best content from 2024 just makes sense,” he said. “I want to make it as easy as possible for people to learn more about the profession — as well as the people and business solutions that are making an impact.”

He noted that the 2023 compilation featuring top stories is also available online.

  • In my opinion the movers and shakers are the front line folks who meet grieving families face to face everyday! I guess after 50 years the new online stuff doesn’t impress or improve daily one on one care we provide.
