Homesteaders Life Co. announced Feb. 13 that its longtime marketing officer, Dean Lambert, is retiring from the company after nearly 25 years of service.

“Dean joined Homesteaders as the company sought to enhance its brand and continue as major player in the preneed insurance funding market,” said Steve Shaffer, president, CEO and board chair of Homesteaders. “He developed a strong strategy and a marketing offering that helped propel Homesteaders to a position of sustained market leadership.” He added, “We’re grateful for Dean’s leadership and longstanding dedication to Homesteaders’ success, but I think many would agree he’ll be remembered for his passion for elevating the funeral profession in the eyes of consumers and as an exceptional market influencer and personal friend to so many.”

Lambert began his relationship with Homesteaders as a consultant in 1996 and became director of marketing communications in 1998. He advanced through leadership, ultimately becoming senior vice president of marketing and communications in 2014.

“I feel honored to have been part of a chapter in Homesteaders’ history that includes its evolution to prominence in the preneed funding arena,” Lambert reflected. “I am eternally grateful for the many lessons I have learned and the ability to contribute my skills to be a big part of the enormous success of the company for so many years.”

Lambert Is Not Done Yet

On Feb. 20, Lambert will assume a new role as executive director of the Life Insurers Council, a global life insurance networking organization of which Homesteaders is a longtime member and supporter. Shaffer, who is currently serving as chair of the LIC’s Advisory Committee, said Lambert brings a combination of high energy, creativity and servant leadership to his new role. “It’s a perfect fit for the future of the LIC,” he said.
