In a significant development in the Lebanon, Pennsylvania community, two independent local funeral home owners, Charles F. Snyder III and Kevin M. Bean, who have served the Lancaster and Reading communities for multiple generations have established the Snyder Bean Funeral Home & Crematory at the site of the former Porterfield-Scheid Funeral Home located at 890 Isabel Drive, Lebanon.
This transition marks the establishment of quality and compassionate funeral services under the new supervision of Charles F. Snyder Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster County and the Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory located in Berks County. Katelynn E. Fetter, a respected licensed funeral director committed to maintaining the high standards set by both the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Homes & Crematory and the Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory, will serve as supervisor.
“We are very proud to be an independent, locally family-owned funeral home supporting our local employees, churches and businesses. We are family owned, and family focused,” said Chad and Kevin.
A New Standard of Service, Family Ownership and Community Focus
Located in the heart of Lebanon County next door to the new Lebanon Social Security office, Snyder Bean Funeral Home & Crematory is recognized for its modern facilities that cater to all faiths and cultures, accommodating services ranging from intimate gatherings to larger ceremonies. With abundant parking and fully ADA-compliant facilities, Snyder Bean is designed to meet the growing needs of the diverse community.
Jim Porterfield, who has been a cornerstone of local funeral services for over fifty years and most recently served as the Supervisor of Porterfield Funeral Home & Crematory, is retiring. His legacy of compassionate care is set to continue under the stewardship of Snyder Bean, which prides itself on a family-oriented approach to funeral services. To that end, families can rest assured that all pre-need policies made at Porterfield Funeral Home will be honored by Snyder Bean Funeral Home.
Heritage and Commitment to the Community

The Bean family emigrated to the United States and settled in Bunker Hill, near Jonestown where the Bunker Hill Evangelical Church is located on what was formerly the Bean family farm. Mizpah “M.B.” Krum and Robert Krum who owned the Roland Funeral Home in Lebanon for two generations were related to Kevin Bean.
