FT North America is proud to announce it is the only cremation equipment manufacturer currently compliant with South Coast Air Quality Management Department’s (AQMD) Rule 1147, which mandates a nitrogen oxide emissions limit of 30 ppm at 3% oxygen for new combustion equipment.
This achievement positions FT at the forefront of environmental compliance, setting a new standard in the cremation industry for both air quality and regulatory readiness.
The purpose behind Rule 1147 is to reduce NOx emissions while also limiting carbon monoxide emissions at the same time. Updates like this demonstrate a growing trend toward stricter environmental oversight. South Coast AQMD serves the greater Los Angeles, California area as well as many surrounding counties.
“The mission of South Coast AQMD is ‘to clean the air and protect the health of all residents in the South Coast Air District through practical and innovative strategies’ and at FT, we couldn’t agree more,” said Mike Miller, CEO of FT North America. “When customers invest in FT cremation equipment, they can be confident that our technology is already ahead of the regulatory curve no matter where they operate.”
While Rule 1147 currently applies to the southern coast of California, FT believes these standards will be adopted by other areas. That’s why FT equipment is engineered for the requirements of today and tomorrow.
“Our approach has always been to anticipate, not react,” Miller added. “We don’t just meet the standard, we set it.”
