Monica Torres, the death-care innovator who last year was inducted into the Mesa Community College Hall of Fame, has earned some new bragging rights: She’s the new director of marketing and outreach for Cairn Partners.

In a post on social media, she expressed optimism about the future.

“Making this difficult decision to make this change in my career was difficult in the beginning, but once I made up my mind, it became very clear that this is not just a job change it is my destiny!” she said.

Torres has been a death-care innovator for years: She is an influencer on social media, public speaker, international technical trainer, instructional designer, author and is the owner of NXT Generation of Mortuary Support. She once graced the cover of the iconic trade magazine, American Funeral Director. She is also revered for her fashion sense and take-no-prisoners attitude.

Moreover, she prides herself on giving back to the death care community and is the organizer of the Hi Precious Scholarship, which she started to help break down social, racial and political barriers and offer female and transgender individuals the opportunity to gain advanced technical training and management skills in mortuary science. She has raised thousands of dollars through the scholarship to help others.

Cairn Partners expressed excitement about welcoming Torres to its team in a post on social media. “Monica brings over 15 years of expertise in social media marketing, brand strategy, and public relations in the death care profession. Her passion for serving funeral directors and commitment to innovation will help us strengthen connections and elevate our services,” the company said.
