Alan Creedy and Danny Jefferson have announced the formal launch of J & C Advisors, a newly organized advisory platform created to support independent funeral home owners and successors as they navigate a period of profound change within the profession.
The launch coincides with a new website and the consolidation of prior initiatives, including the integration of Two Guys and a Question into the J & C Advisors platform.
According to Creedy and Jefferson, the reorganization reflects a natural evolution — one shaped by several years of close work with funeral professionals confronting shifting consumer expectations, leadership transitions, and the growing complexity of operating a sustainable business.
“Over time, it became clear that what we were really doing was helping people prepare — not just financially, but mentally and culturally — for the future of funeral service,” said Creedy. “This new platform allows us to describe that work more clearly and deliver it with greater intention.”
A Shift from Programs to Preparation
Rather than offering stand-alone programs or generalized consulting, J & C Advisors has reorganized its work into clearly defined venues of service. Each venue focuses on a specific dimension of leadership development, including financial stewardship, peer collaboration, skills development, and successor readiness.
The firm’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that the next decade will challenge many long-standing assumptions in funeral service — and reward those who lead with clarity, curiosity, and intention. Participation is selective by design.
“This isn’t about scale or volume,” Jefferson explained. “It’s about creating space for honest conversation among people who recognize that the profession is changing and who want to think seriously about what that means for their businesses, their families, and their communities.”
Creedy emphasized that the platform is intentionally invitation-based.
“We are looking for owners and successors who remain deeply committed to staying active in funeral service,” he said. “For the sake of meaningful dialogue and effectiveness, participation is limited to no more than thirty individuals.”
An Invitation-Based Community Model
Consistent with that philosophy, J & C Advisors works primarily through invitation-based peer groups and advisory relationships. The structure is designed to foster trust, candor, and shared learning among participants whose experience and judgment add value to the conversation.
Many long-standing participants recently completed an initial three-year engagement and are now being invited into the next phase of the platform under updated terms. The firm views this transition not as an expansion, but as a refinement—building a more clearly defined community aligned around preparation rather than prescriptions.
While participation is by invitation, J & C Advisors welcomes thoughtful inquiry from owners and successors who believe this approach aligns with how they see the future of their firm.
“We are not trying to tell people what to do,” Jefferson noted. “We are creating a setting where the right questions can be explored thoughtfully, with peers who understand the realities of this profession.”
Experiential Learning and Blue Ocean Exploration
Looking ahead, J & C Advisors is planning a Blue Ocean site visit to an innovative funeral home in the Southeast in late March or early April.
The visit will bring together a small group of participants for on-site observation and discussion focused on differentiation, leadership intent, and long-term positioning.
“This isn’t a tour,” Jefferson said. “It’s about seeing how ideas translate into real operating environment. We want participants to be able to implement what they learn when they get home.”
