You may think that Kayla Blevins, general manager of Palm Northwest Mortuary in Las Vegas, which is owned by Service Corporation International, would have a hard time outdoing the fact that an entire day – April 9, 2024 – was designated as “Kayla Blevins Day” in Las Vegas. That’s how much she loves her community and how much her community loves her.
But she has done just that by being named the winner of one of SCI’s most prestigious awards, the Steve Mack Award for Service Excellence.
An internal award from SCI, it is bestowed to the SCI Service Excellence Awards program’s overall winner for their outstanding contributions and dedication to Service Excellence.
The award was first presented on April 29, 2016, at the eighth annual SCI Service Excellence Awards Celebration and is named in honor of former Senior Vice President Steve Mack, whose 42-year career was highlighted by his stellar leadership and endless dedication to serving families.
Kevin Beattie, a senior managing director at SCI, had only great things to stay about Blevins in a video honoring her as the award winner.
“What makes her unique is the fact that she cares deeply about her family, her community and the people that she works with,” he said. “It’s rare to have a person care about all of those three things deeply. I have known leaders who care about their people and their family, but she ties all of it together with the community – and it is pretty special.”
Celena DiLullo, president of Palm Mortuaries and Cemeteries, hailed Blevins’s commitment to excellence. “When I think of service excellence, I think of doing what is right when no one is looking, being dedicated to the families that you serve and also leading in a way that inspires others to emulate (your example),” she said.
Blevins expressed deep appreciation for being honored with the award, especially since she works with so many phenomenal leaders not just in her market but throughout SCI.
