Russell Coleman, the attorney general of Kentucky, recently announced the indictment of a Campbellsville funeral home director on felony charges related to defrauding more than a dozen families.
A Taylor County Grand Jury indicted Donald Auberry, 53 (pictured at top), on 13 counts of Violation of Trust Provisions/Preneed Payments for Funeral Services (a Class C felony).
According to the indictment, between July 2021 and April 2025, Auberry defrauded families who paid for his funeral services. The alleged abuses happened at least 13 times.
The Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations investigated the case. The Commonwealth’s Attorney Office for the 11th Judicial Circuit presented the case to the grand jury.
Arraignment is scheduled for June 23, 2026.
The charges in an indictment are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
