National Guardian Life Insurance Company has hired Melissa Posey Loose (pictured at top) as its assistant vice president, marketing communications, according to a news release.

Loose will lead the marketing and communications teams in the development of strategic internal and external marketing communications plans to promote NGL’s brand and further enhance NGL’s position as a leader in the Preneed insurance industry.

Loose has more than 25 years of diverse experience in delivering training, developing marketing campaigns and collateral, writing and editing publications and creating partnerships.

“We are excited for Melissa to join our team, with her expertise in marketing and communications, combined with a funeral home background she will continue to enhance our offerings for everyone who partners with NGL,” said Jessica Grann, senior vice president, chief culture and communications officer at NGL.

Prior to joining NGL, Loose was training and development manager for the National Funeral Directors Association, where she directed program planning, partnership development and implementation of both NFDA’s annual Professional Women’s Conference and NFDA’s Arranger Training programming for domestic and international audiences. She was also director of marketing and community relations for Posey Funeral Directors, where she developed several award-winning community partnership programs as she managed the public relations and marketing functions for the funeral group.

Loose is well-versed in the preneed marketplace and has a thorough understanding of how to serve families through her experience as a licensed funeral director in South Carolina where she led families through the process of arranging memorialization opportunities and selecting goods and services for funeral services.

“I am honored to join NGL, an organization rooted in compassionate commitment to its Marketing Partners, corporate team members, agents and the families who invest in its products. NGL defines integrity in the quality of service rendered. I’ve seen this on a first-hand basis in the death care sector, and I’m looking forward to contributing to this continued model for success in the broader insurance industry,” she said.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts from Brigham Young University. A published author, most recently she contributed to Funeral Service Foundation’s When a Child Dies: Creating Acts of Love and Legacy, now used by the National Institute of Health and over 60 hospital systems.

A native of North Augusta,  South Carolina, Loose lives near Salt Lake City with her husband, Rob, and their two children.
