FuneralVision.com has been keeping tabs of the latest mergers and acquisitions in funeral service.

Merkle Funeral Service, Inc. in Monroe County, Michigan, recently acquired Crane Funeral Home in Romulus, Michigan. The Romulus location is the fifth facility under the Merkle name and the first to be located outside of Monroe County. The change of ownership occurred on Oct. 31, 2024 which happened to be the 18th anniversary of the groundbreaking for the first Merkle location in Frenchtown Township. The new location is now known as Merkle Funeral Service, Romulus.

Newcomer Funeral Service Group has also been busy.

The company reported that it recently acquired Grayson Funeral Homes in Charlestown and New Washington, Indiana, which strengthens its presence in Southern Indiana and the Greater Louisville area.

President John Newcomer said, “We are pleased to welcome the Grayson Funeral Homes and their associates to our company and support them as they provide exceptional funeral and cremation services to Southern Indiana.”

Speaking of the transition, Chris Grayson shared, “My family and our associates are honored to serve Charlestown and New Washington and care for families as if they were our own. We are comfortable joining the Newcomer family knowing they share our values of service and that Grayson Funeral Homes will continue to provide the best care possible to Southern Indiana.”
