Lind Funeral Home has spent more than eight decades helping families in Jamestown, New York, navigate some of life’s most difficult moments. Now, the multigenerational family-operated funeral home is beginning a new chapter after joining Milestone Funeral Partners.

Milestone announced the partnership in a Sept. 19, 2026, LinkedIn post, welcoming the Lind team into its growing organization and describing the funeral home’s history as a remarkable legacy built across four generations.

The partnership brings together a funeral home with deep roots in its community and a company that has made supporting local funeral professionals and preserving established businesses central to its growth strategy.

“We are honored that they have entrusted Milestone with the stewardship of a firm, reputation and legacy built with such care over generations,” Milestone said in its announcement.

The company said it looks forward to supporting the Lind team as it continues serving Jamestown and surrounding communities, with familiar faces, local relationships and a commitment to families remaining central to the funeral home’s identity.

A Legacy That Began in 1941

The Lind story began in 1941, when Bernhard F. Lind opened the funeral home in his residence on South Main Street in Jamestown. From the beginning, he welcomed families of all faiths and backgrounds, establishing a tradition of service that would continue through subsequent generations.

After 18 years, Lind moved his family home to West Third Street, where the business continued to grow.

His sons, Rod, Bob and Skip, carried the family enterprise forward. Later, third-generation family members Terry, Robin, Cindy and Gary became part of the business, continuing the work of serving families in the community.

Over the decades, the funeral home’s employees also became an integral part of its story. Milestone’s announcement described the team as a quilt of “like-family” individuals whose contributions helped shape the organization and its reputation.

Today, Lind remains a third- and fourth-generation family-operated funeral home, according to Milestone, reflecting the enduring involvement of the Lind family in the business.

The funeral home’s website expresses gratitude for the confidence, friendship and trust families have placed in its staff, while emphasizing its commitment to professional care and genuine concern. Its offerings include traditional funeral services, cremation, advance planning and grief support.

Preserving the Local Connection

Milestone specifically welcomed Cynthia, Gary, Kirstie, Mark, Brian, Macey and the entire Lind Funeral Home team in announcing the partnership.

The company said it intends to support the team while allowing the funeral home to continue serving its communities with the familiar people and local relationships that have defined its work for generations.

That emphasis on local leadership is consistent with Milestone’s stated business model. The Auburn, Maine-based organization describes its approach as one centered on partnership, leadership development and supporting community-based managing partners. Its strategy emphasizes keeping local caregivers at the forefront of the businesses it operates.

In a January 2025 interview with FuneralVision.com, Milestone co-founder and CEO Michael Martel discussed the company’s vision of building a growing funeral service organization while retaining the culture and community connections associated with smaller, locally operated firms.

Martel and co-founder Timothy “TJ” Smart established Milestone in 2021 after careers in funeral service and leadership at Service Corporation International. The company has pursued growth through acquisitions and partnerships, with an emphasis on employee development, local leadership and equity opportunities for funeral professionals.

Milestone’s addition of Lind Funeral Home extends that strategy into Jamestown, bringing an established Western New York operation into its network.

The Next Chapter

For Lind Funeral Home, the partnership marks a new stage in a story that began with Bernhard Lind welcoming families into his home in 1941.

The firm’s history has been shaped by successive generations of family members and employees, along with relationships built with the people of Jamestown and nearby communities.

Milestone said it is proud to become part of that history and looks forward to helping the Lind team carry its legacy into the future.

The company’s announcement did not disclose financial terms of the transaction or specify changes to the funeral home’s day-to-day operations.
