Milestone Funeral Partners is pleased to announce the appointment of David Mahoney as its new director of integrations, where he will lead the company’s integrations team. This dedicated team has been created to provide an exceptional onboarding experience for funeral homes partnering with Milestone, ensuring a smooth transition while preserving each firm’s unique legacy and commitment to the communities they serve.

As director of integrations, Mahoney will oversee the integration process for newly acquired locations, collaborating across departments to streamline operations, foster communication, and create a consistent, supportive experience for funeral home owners and employees. His leadership will be instrumental in executing an integration program centered on partnership, transparency and long-term success.

“At Milestone, we believe that the experience a funeral home has during its transition sets the foundation for a successful future,” said Michael Martel, CEO of Milestone Funeral Partners. “David’s proven leadership, operational expertise, and commitment to serving others make him the ideal candidate to lead this important initiative. We’re excited to have him build a team dedicated to creating the best possible onboarding experience for every location that joins the Milestone family.”

Mahoney joins Milestone with more than 20 years of leadership experience in public service, operations, and organizational development. A graduate of Fitchburg State University, he later earned a Master of Public Administration from Anna Maria College and has built his career leading teams, improving operations and helping mission-driven organizations grow while serving their communities.

He began his career in law enforcement in Massachusetts, serving as a patrol officer, detective and trainer. Throughout his career, Mahoney led multidisciplinary teams, managed complex operations, and remained committed to developing future leaders through collaboration, mentorship, and servant leadership.

His dedication to service extends beyond his professional career. Mahoney served on the advisory board of the Brett M. Staples Brain Disorder Awareness Coalition and continues to mentor first responders through resilience and leadership programs. His distinguished service has been recognized with the Medal of Valor from his former police department as well as the Massachusetts Coalition of Police Platinum Medal of Valor.

“A successful integration is about more than processes, it’s about people,” said Mahoney. “I’m honored to join Milestone Funeral Partners and lead a team focused on supporting our new locations from day one. By listening, collaborating, and providing the resources they need, we can ensure every partner feels welcomed, supported, and positioned for long-term success.”

A lifelong New Englander, Mahoney is excited to contribute to Milestone’s mission of serving families and communities across its growing network of funeral homes, cemeteries, and cremation providers. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors, especially fishing, exercising, mentoring emerging leaders, and supporting organizations that serve veterans and first responders.

As Milestone Funeral Partners continues its strategic growth throughout the Northeast and beyond, the creation of a dedicated Integrations team underscores the organization’s commitment to providing a thoughtful, seamless transition experience while empowering local teams to continue delivering exceptional care to the families they serve.
