The International Order of the Golden Rule, the world’s leading professional association dedicated to making independent funeral homes exceptional, is pleased to announce the installation of Kim R. Hunter as the new president of the organization. Hunter is the owner of Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles-Newbigging Chapel in Toronto, Canada.

Kim R. Hunter, a licensed funeral director since 1976, is an active member of the Royal Canadian Military Institute, The Thunderers of Toronto and Rotary Club of Toronto. He is also a former member of the Toronto East General Hospital Foundation Board, Bayview Community Hospice and the St. George’s Society. After many years of service at Humphrey Funeral Home, Kim became President and Owner in November 2018 and is committed to upholding strong ties within the Toronto community.

After being installed as president on May 7 at OGR’s signature event PROGRESS, Hunter reflected on his journey volunteering with OGR.

“I can say now, honestly and with appreciation, these last years of being involved with OGR have been some of the most rewarding and happiest times I’ve experienced,” said Hunter. “I not only gleaned ideas to implement at my funeral home but have developed friendships that will last a lifetime.

As part of this transition, Jamie Wieting, Wieting Family Funeral Home (Chilton, WI), assumed the role of Past President. Peter Urban Jr., Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, Inc. (Ambler, PA), was installed as President-Elect. Justin Zabor, The Zabor Funeral Home, Inc. (Parma, OH) was installed as Secretary/Treasurer.

The ceremony also included the re-installation of board members Larnique Mickens, Heritage Mortuary, Inc. (Las Vegas, NV) and Adam Guthrie, Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., (Franklin, PA).

The board also welcomed Gregory McClary, Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home-Westland (Westland, MI) and Bruce Parthemore, Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services (New Cumberland, PA) for their first term on the OGR board.
