Funeral Women Lead recently announced that Patty Neuswanger has joined the organization as senior director of operations.

Neuswanger brings more than two decades of leadership experience in nonprofit strategy, education, events, and organizational development to the role where she will be guiding Funeral Women Lead on its mission to unleash the greatness of women in the funeral and deathcare profession.

Throughout her career, Neuswanger has played a key role in designing and implementing innovative educational initiatives and professional development programs tailored to the unique needs of funeral service and deathcare professionals. Neuswanger is passionate about advancing equity and opportunity for women in the deathcare and funeral profession, and her background includes leadership roles at both the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) and Selected Independent Funeral Homes.

“I’ve spent my career building programs and communities that empower people to grow, lead and thrive and I’m thrilled to now focus that energy on advancing women in funeral service,” said Neuswanger. “The profession is full of talented, capable women whose contributions deserve to be seen, supported and celebrated. I look forward to helping create the systems, spaces and strategies that ensure their success.”

Funeral Women Lead was founded in 2024 by Lisa Baue, and is dedicated to creating next-era women’s leadership in the funeral and deathcare profession. Funeral Women Lead is a robust and multilayered organization offering education, community support, mentoring and coaching opportunities to women. Funeral Women Lead expects to become a 501c3 charitable organization in the future.

“Funeral Women Lead was born out of a deep commitment to empower women in the funeral profession. I recognized the unique challenges they face and the need for a supportive community that fosters growth, leadership, and collaboration,” Baue said. “By creating this platform, we aim to provide resources, mentorship, and opportunities for women to thrive, ensuring their voices are heard and their contributions are valued “Patty brings vast experience in the funeral and deathcare profession to this role and will help our organization reach its goals of educating, supporting, and championing women throughout their careers, helping them succeed in an industry where they are often overlooked.”

In an industry where women now represent over 75% of mortuary science graduates, yet nearly half leave within five years, Funeral Women Lead and Neuswanger are ready to fill a critical gap.
