The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards recently announced that Robert Barnes was awarded the prestigious President’s Distinguished Service Award at its 120th Annual Meeting.
This esteemed accolade recognizes Barnes’ exemplary dedication and invaluable contributions to The Conference over 18 years of service. His illustrious tenure has been marked by unwavering commitment and visionary leadership, as he served as the president of The Conference from 2010 to 2011 and returned to serve on the board of directors again in 2016.
For the past 29 years, he has served on the Maine Board of Funeral Service, where his expertise and guidance have been instrumental in upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics within the industry.
Barnes’ dedication to the funeral service profession is further evidenced by his tenure as the past president of the Maine Funeral Directors Association in 1984. He was bestowed with an honorary doctoral degree from former Mount Ida College, a testament to his outstanding contributions to his community and the broader society.
