Who says you can’t go home again?

Amy Hunt, who went from being a farm girl to funeral girl, is returning to her roots and leaving Selected Independent Funeral Homes after a trailblazing 20-year career.

In a post on LinkedIn, the director of meetings and education of Selected, shared the news, stating, “How do you summarize 20 years in one post? The answer is, you can’t. As my tenure with Selected Independent Funeral Homes winds down, I simply am grateful for the experiences, opportunities and, most importantly, the amazing members I’ve been honored to serve and many fabulous people I’ve been blessed to work with over the years. My
memories are many and will be treasured.”

She added that she will be joining AmericanAg in January. which is is a global provider of diversified reinsurance services for the Farm Bureau insurance companies and the broader U.S. and international broker marketplace.

Reaction from the profession on social media was swift.

“Thank you for being a steady pillar and staple in Selected Independent Funeral Homes and our industry. Our industry is truly blessed to have had your presence, said Camelia L. Clark, president and CEO of Paradise Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Milwaukee.

Brad Speaks, the former president and CEO of Speaks Chapels and now a consultant, said, “The welcoming-est smiles, the biggest hugs, the brightest and most genuine-est personality of all time!!! I’m so grateful for all you’ve done for Selected and our profession and I want to make sure you know – YOU HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE! Thanks for everything!!”

Bradford Bellows, president at Bellows Funeral Chapel in Lincoln, Rhode Island, said, “Thank you for all you have done and brought to Selected. You were there on the front line at Selected greeting everyone by name with your totally infectious smile at every meeting. It was contagious and no one could match your love of everyone and everything that is Selected.”

John Horan, founder of the Horan Family of Companies, said, “You have made a huge impact in the success of Selected. Members always felt warmly welcomed. Your professional, outgoing, and kind spirit will be missed. Thank you for your dedication for all these years.”

Glenn Taylor, chairman of Glenn Family Services in Owensburg, Kentucky, said, “Amy, in so many ways, you personified Selected. A steadfast and settling presence, totally unflappable. We all learned from you.”

I wish you only the best in your new career!”

Many others mentioned Hunt’s warm smile and infectious energy, which always inspired the members of Selected to keep moving forward.

Thomas Parmalee, the founder of FuneralVision.com, wished Hunt all the best as she begins her next chapter. “Amy has been a colleague of mine for almost 20 years, and anytime I ever had a question about planning an event, needed to connect with someone or just needed to get someone’s advice, she was always there,” he said. “There are some people who have such a generous personality, who are always willing to help others even when there is nothing in it for them — and Amy has been a shining example of what it means to live a life of service.
