Titan Casket recently introduced a new patent-pending casket it’s calling the “Hypercasket” with a suggested retail price of $9,999.

The wholesale price for funeral homes is $4,999, which would result in a tidy profit of $5,000 per casket sale, company executives said.

“We’ve intentionally built in meaningful margin for funeral homes and distributors,” said Joshua Siegel, the company’s co-founder and chief operating officer. “We have several new products this year that are tailored for funeral homes as we deepen our relationships.”

According to the landing page advertising the casket, it is “engineered for eternity” and is “the world’s toughest casket.” It is made of 12-gauge steel that the company says is three times thicker than the standard casket.

As the website states, “Impact resistant would be an understatement.”

The casket has a vegan leather interior, which means those who opt for the casket can help solve climate change “one cow at a time.”

Currently, the casket is only available for pre-orders.

Customers who buy the casket directly from the company can do so by placing a $250 deposit down. The casket will ship in the fall, and the rest of the payment will be due before shipping.

For now, the Hypercasket is not available for prearrangements, but that could change depending on how the market embraces the product, Siegel said.

“The caskets we offer for pre-planning are timeless designs, and ones we are highly confident we will continue to offer for decades to come,” he said. “While we love the Hypercasket and think it will be successful, it is a fashion-forward design, and we are still gathering feedback. If a funeral home or family would like delivery in the next 6-12 months, we can certainly work with them on a plan. However, we do not yet want to promise availability and delivery 5, 10, or 20 years into the future.”

But as orders come in, Titan Casket stands ready to fulfill them, Siegel pledged. “For launch, we built a few samples for press and as showcase pieces for interested B2B partners. We’re now taking pre-orders and are building inventory based on that demand,” he said.

As far as taking delivery of the casket is concerned, funeral homes really should have no problem, Siegel said. “The Hypercasket is 250 pounds, within the weight range of a large oversize casket,” he said. “The Hypercasket was made to move on wheels – we recommend a church truck for transport for all use cases.”
